Through a partnership with the State of Colorado Department of Human Services, Discover Goodwill administers the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program or LEAP, which provides home heating assistance to households with income up to 60 percent of the Colorado State Median Income. Please visit the State website here for more information or call 1-866-432-8435.
Discover Goodwill’s mission is to help people find work and we realize limited finances for adequate home heating is a barrier to employment. Through the administering of LEAP, Discover Goodwill helps break this barrier and allows residents to focus on their job search.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: LEAP benefits have been extended past the April 30 deadline this year to help address the increasing need created by the COVID-19 crisis. Learn more here.
The program begins November 1 and applications will be processed as long as funding is available. To qualify for LEAP, applicants must be responsible for paying heating costs to an energy provider, fuel dealer or, as part of their rent; and be permanent legal residents of the United States and Colorado, or have household members who are U.S. citizens. LEAP assistance is not intended to pay a household’s entire cost of home heating, so it is important that households continue to pay their heating bills.
LEAP is a federally funded program.
