For over 25 years, Discover Goodwill’s Career Development Center (CDC) has partnered with El Paso County Department of Human Services to train and put job seekers to work in our community. Our experienced staff, established regional presence and strong community partnerships can help you find your path to personal and financial independence.

CDC’s Milestones Case Management Program Includes:
    • CW STEP: Launched in January 2018, Colorado Works Subsidized Training and Employment Program (CW STEP) helps connect at-risk populations who are eligible for basic cash assistance from Colorado Works—Colorado’s federally funded program providing temporary cash assistance for needy families—with crucial professional work experience and opportunity. This interagency collaborative program connects Coloradans facing significant barriers to employment with job opportunities.

Job Training

At Discover Goodwill, we help people with barriers to employment find good jobs. Through a partnership with the Colorado State Department of Labor and Employment, Discover Goodwill is ready to help referred job seekers reach their employment goals.

Experienced and caring Discover Goodwill staff provides personalized assistance to all individuals no matter their background. The following services are giving a hand up to job seekers working toward financial independence.

  • Assistance matching your interests and skills to the right job
  • Training classes to prepare you for employment
  • Help creating a resume
  • Interview coaching
  • Financial assistance with clothing, haircuts, transportation, etc. necessary to find a job

ReHire Colorado

ReHire Colorado is an 11-week, transitional employment program helping individuals with barriers to employment re-enter the workforce. Through paid, on-the-job training in a supportive work environment, job seekers gain hands-on experience and develop marketable job skills to launch or advance their careers.

The ReHire Colorado program is administered by Discover Goodwill’s Career Development Center. Our successful employment model includes partnerships with leading employers representing diverse and in-demand industries and occupations.

Discover Goodwill’s highly-trained job developers and employment specialists are dedicated to matching participants’ interests and abilities with compatible work sites, where they will receive hands-on training and assessments to help ensure a successful transition into the workforce.

Employment Development Services

Discover Goodwill of Southern and Western Colorado is committed to helping job seekers reach their employment goals through skill development. Goodwill’s Employee Development Services offer job training assistance to two audiences:

  • Adults through the Work Adjustment Program
  • High school students through the Work Experience Program

Work Adjust Program

Referred job seekers receive individualized, on-the-job training from experienced Discover Goodwill staff who help adults develop positive work habits needed to succeed in employment.

Discover Goodwill assists individuals with …
  • Chronic unemployment
  • History of frequent job changes
  • Little or no work experience
  • Subsidize wages for up to 12 weeks to those meeting program criteria
Job seekers will develop the following skills:
  • Performance skills—including punctuality, grooming and quantity and quality of work
  • Knowledge of work practices—including safety awareness and proper care and handling of equipment
  • Job seeking skills—including job search resources, applications and interviews
  • Understanding of employee benefits—including payroll, insurance, unions and retirement
  • Community living skills—including time and money management and transportation

Transition Services

Referred high school students with learning challenges receive one-on-one job skills development from experienced Discover Goodwill staff who help prepare students for competitive employment upon graduation. This program is also targeted to adults who meet Federal poverty guidelines.

Transition Services promotes:
  • Attendance and punctuality
  • Proficient work quality and quantity
  • Attention to detail
  • Communication skills
  • Work stamina and tolerance

Discover Goodwill assists participants with finding employment experiences in the community based on their interests. This employment may be volunteer or paid.

Upon graduation, students are prepared and excited to move into competitive employment with Goodwill or in the community.
