Through a partnership with the El Paso County Department of Human Services, Discover Goodwill administers the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program or LEAP, which provides home heating assistance to eligible, low-income residents who pay monthly utilities directly to an energy provider or through rent payments.
Discover Goodwill’s mission is to help people find work and we realize limited finances for adequate home heating is a barrier to employment. Through the administering of LEAP, Discover Goodwill helps break this barrier and allows residents to focus on their job search.
Aid is available to U.S. citizens and Colorado residents and runs November 1 through April 30. LEAP assistance is not intended to cover residents’ entire heating bills but will pay a portion in a one-time payment directly to the energy provider. Assistance is determined by the homeowner’s monthly income and number of members living in the home.
Discover Goodwill is excited to announce that we have additional funding available for our constituents that are in crisis with their utility services. This funding is made possible through a grant with Energy Outreach Colorado.
LEAP is a federally funded program. Services are provided at no direct cost to counties. Areas Discover Goodwill serves include: Arapahoe County, Archuleta County, Chaffee County, Clear Creek County, Delta County, Douglas County, Eagle County, El Paso County, Garfield County, Gilpin County, Grand County, Gunnison County, Hinsdale County, Jackson County, Jefferson County, Kit Carson County, Lake County, La Plata County, Logan County, Moffat County, Montrose County, Ouray County, Park County, Phillips County, Pitkin County, Rio Blanco County, Routt County, San Miguel County, Sedgwick County, Summit County, Teller County and Weld County.
