Goodwill® Industries of Colorado Springs is now offering complimentary Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) courses to its welfare-to-work clients.
In an effort to place Goodwill clients on a path to self-sufficiency through a healthcare career, Goodwill has partnered with Centennial Nurse Aide Training Program to create the CNA program.
The eight-week course includes class and lab instruction, hands-on clinical training and experience at Goodwill day programs serving individuals with special needs. The first class of nine students was selected from 90 applicants through an arduous pre-screening to ensure their success. Graduation from the program, State of Colorado board certification and job placement with healthcare providers is planned for September.
“Goodwill continuously explores viable opportunities for those we serve. With the growth potential of the healthcare field, this program will provide a new career path for clients with economic disadvantages referred to Goodwill through the Department of Human Services,” comments Denise Krug, Goodwill vice president rehabilitation and community services.
